Every year, Harbin, the northernmost part of China, is transported by magic to an ice-filled festival that many tourists love to see. This fairy tale like event is what is known as the Ice and Snow World Festival. The majestic Ice and Snow World is located in Zhaolin Park; and resembles a beautiful painting; but when you step into the park, you walk into a bright and colorful ice wonderland full of heavenly decorated ice sculptures.
The Ice and Snow World is brought to life by the many artistic displays of ice lanterns and carvings. From famous landmarks to well known characters, there are lots of ice exhibitions found in this Park all made out of ice blocks but looking like the real thing. These sculptures change with the colorful beam of light displaying extravagant splendors and vividness. The changes from the colorful beams creates an imagination filled with inspirations; from a display of a Winter Palace to that of a fairy wonderland to an exotic looking Russian town and big modern squares, the sculptures will leave you awe struck. During the ice festival, the organizers associate the event with a particular theme which is demonstrated through exquisitely decorated carved ice sculptures. Over the years, people have seen versions of Disneyland-like castles or realistic-looking Moscow on ice.
