Tiger Leaping Gorge starts out from Lijiang’s Yulong Xueshan Mountains (Jade Dragon Snow Mountain) on the east side to Zhongdian’s Haba Xueshan Mountains in the west. It is one of the world’s deepest, longest and narrowest gorge. Legend said that a tiger once leaped over its torrid water flow, hence it was named the Tiger Leaping Gorge.

Also known as Yulong Mountain, It has 13 peaks, amongst which it’s prominent peak, Shanzidou stands at 18,360 feet. The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain elongates to about 20 kilometers in width and 35 kilometers in length.
